MISSION

The mission of T.E.A.M. is to provide a forum for developing and distributing risk management information for the timber harvesting industry through the cooperative efforts of equipment manufacturers, insurers, dealers, loggers, safety professionals, and the risk management community.

HISTORY

In 2001, T.E.A.M. was formed to address concerns of the forest industry. The industry had experienced a high number of equipment fires that resulted in major financial losses and personal injuries. T.E.A.M. consists of representatives from logging companies, equipment manufactures, equipment dealers, fire prevention specialists and insurance companies.  The first T.E.A.M. action was to develop nationwide forest equipment fire awareness and education programs.

As a result of the programs and actions of the members we have seen a reduction in the number and severity of fires on forestry equipment. A resulting benefit was the reduction of overall insurance premiums on logging equipment. The focus of this diverse group of professionals is changing from education, training and safety materials for equipment fires to improving maintenance practices, safety practices, improving equipment design, and overall operational conditions for forestry equipment.
