Overhead Hazards

Overhead hazards are the number one cause of injuries in the logging woods.

Anyone entering a logging deck must wear a protective hard hat.

When manually stumping timber it is extremely important that the saw operator checks for overhead hazards before beginning his cut.

Need to plan and clear a path of retreat from the tree being felled.

Need to ensure other workers are a safe distance from the tree being felled.

If a tree is lodged it needs to be pulled down with a skidder or cutter. Never try to cut a lodged tree out.

When walking through the logging woods, everyone needs to be aware of what is overhead - broken and hanging limbs can fall at any time.
