San Antonio, Texas – The National Log A Load For Kids Advisory Group recognized David Cresson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana as the winner of its Third Annual Log A Load For Kids CMN Champion Award at Log A Load For Kid’s National Conference, November 16 in San Antonio. This award recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a Children’s Miracle Network Director or other CMN employee on behalf of his or her state or local Log A Load For Kids program.
David serves as Children’s Miracle Network Coordinator for Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge and he became interested in the Louisiana Log A Load For Kids Program in 1998. He quickly realized that the Log A Load For Kids Program would be an excellent opportunity to work with loggers and to raise monies for Log A Load For Kids and for Our Lady of the Lake CMN Program.
David and leadership members of Louisiana’s Logging Council’s Chapter Six put together their first fishing tournament in 2001 raising $8,000 for Log A Load For Kids. The fishing tournament has continued to grow. It raised more than $82,000 this past year and has established itself as one of the major fund raising events for Our Lady of the Lake CMN Program.
David’s persistence and personality has played a major role in the Louisiana’s Logging Council Chapter Six’s Log A Load contributions of over $200,000 during the last five years. He has also played a major role in the CMN Telethon for Our Lady of the Lake Hospital exceeding their goal of over $1,000,000 for the last two years.
Debra Jordan accepted the award for David Cresson at the National Log A Load For Kids Conference, November 16 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Debra read a statement from David that stated: “I humbly accept this honor on behalf of our entire team here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. CMN in Baton Rouge is fortunate to have what we believe is the best, most giving group of loggers anywhere. Four years ago, our Log A Load program raised approximately $8-10,000 a year. Now, our local program is a consistent $100,000 per year producer. In fact, our Log A Load Bass Tournament is now our biggest single event of the year, and one of the very best and biggest Bass Tournaments in Louisiana. Credit for that rests squarely on the shoulders of our local loggers, especially Mr. And Mrs. Dennis Aucoin and their staff, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hinson and their staff, Mr. And Mrs. Bob Wall and their staff, and Mr. Clyde Todd and the wonderful staff at the Louisiana Logging Council. Their vision and leadership has truly created miracles for thousands of local children.”
“I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to work with these fine people, and all of the loggers of this district. I am inspired by their generosity, and I look forward to more great things to come. For all of us here at Our Lady of the Lake Foundation in Baton Rouge, thank you for this wonderful honor.”
Debra Jordan accepted the National Log A Load For Kids CMN Champion Award on behalf of David Cresson from the National Log A Load For Kids Advisory Group Chair Debby Blomberg. The award included a plaque and award check, compliments of Timberjack Corporation, the Log A Load For Kids National Conference and Award sponsor.
